Dj METRALLETA

I was born in the countryside, in a very small Afro town near Cali, Colombia. I am the mix, between a Colombian-Irish woman and an Afro-Colombian man. I studied Economics and International Business to “be someone in life and progress” as your parents want, but I grew up surrounded by music, musicians and a very strong salsa collectors and dancers culture, which made me discover my passion for Afro-latin music at a very young age, to rebuild my life and make my second career as a professional DJ. I currently live in Barcelona.
I am a DJ (vinyl and digital), programmer, activist and cultural producer.
I research and mix African, Latin and electropical music, creating a positive, energetic and very happy environment. I combine my artistic work with my project “Cultura en Vivo”, a cultural platform and magazine that aims to make visible artists and stories related to Afro-descendant culture. Creating references, changing the narratives regarding Afro culture and unite people from love and respect for cultural diversity.
